Kerbal crochet pattern

My friend is currently into watching Kerbal Space Program by Scott Manly

and I thought it'll be great to make him a little kerbal crochet.

Lucky for me, I found a really nice pattern from this website by Amiguruthi. I asked for her permission and I'm now uploading my own variation of the pattern.

Not much has been changed, so I do suggest trying out both patterns :)

Please be respectful that this is Amiguruthi's pattern and you have no permission to sell the pattern and you should ask her before selling an amigurumi made by her pattern!

(The same thing applies for my pattern as well)

The Essentials:

Hook: 3.5mm

Wool: Orange, white, black, yellow and mint green.

Also needed: Black and dark green embroidery thread; white, red and pink felt (depending on chosen face); 6mm safety eyes; detergent doser (from laundry detergent – one of those plastic cup things you measure out the liquid with)

I used green embroidery thread even around the scream to look like lips. I also added eyebrows on Glenn to increase the scared look. Oh and apparently the accepted Kerbal name is Jebediah, I’m just going with what my customer has elected to call his!"

Firstly, find one of these:

Credit: Good Housekeeping

Mine was more blocky than round, but that’s ok. The following is a guideline only, since your doser will probably be a different size to mine.

In white, magic ring

Round 1: 6Sc into the centre of the magic ring
Round 2: INC around [12]
Round 3: {Sc, INC} around [18]
Round 4: {2Sc, INC} around [24]
Round 5: {3Sc, INC} around [30]
Round 6: {4Sc, INC} around [36]
Round 7: Sc around BLO [36]
Round 8: Dc around both loops [36]
Round 9: 20 Dc STOP. Ch2 and turn. [20]
Round 10: 20 Dc STOP. Ch2 and turn. [20]

"Insert your plastic cap into the work now. Repeat row 10 as many times an needed to reach the bottom of your cap, then instead of stopping at the end of your 20 Dc, CH16 and join to the beginning of the round with a Slip Stitch."

Round [11]: {4Sc, DEC} around [30]
Round [12]: DC around BLO [30]

"Finish off and weave in the tail. Make sure your plastic cap is positioned within the work so that you can see through it clearly at the front (so you can’t see the measurements if it has them printed on). Secure around the edge of the face panel using a glue gun (optional)."

"Cut two long strips of red felt and glue them across the top running backwards down the helmet. Cut two shorter strips of red felt and glue them to the sides."

"Pop your helmet on your Kerbal and we’re almost finished."

Backpack (This I have also yet to make... been a very busy week)

"Or I suppose it’s actually compressed oxygen really.

In white felt, cut a cross shape as shown below:

Sew this up the edges to create a cube shape. Stuff it slightly before sewing up the final edge.

In black, Ch 10 (approximately – check on your own Kerbal).

Sew one end on the chain to the bottom corners of your backpack facing your Kerbal’s back, and the run the chain around the arms and sew to the top corners of your backpack facing your Kerbal’s back to create straps.

Kerbals finished and ready to be splattered on the moon!"

Star vs. the Forces of Evil review

It's depressing to know that I've grown up. Well I'm depressed regardless of that fact, but that's not necessarily the point.
Adults have an awful lot of responsibility on their plate and part of it happens to be cleaning up the mess children make and dealing with children's episodes. In this case, there seem to be a lot of mess and a lot of episodes. Gone are the days where I can just see the fun side in shenanigan and tom foolery. All I can see is an annoying child who creates havoc wherever she goes.

When I got into Steven Universe by a recommendation from someone, it lead me to searching for more animations with a similar light hearted cartoon with some deep plot behind it. The first cartoon I've come to love next was Gravity Falls. Then when I finished watching that, I searched for my next fill and Star vs. the Forces of Evil came to my attention. I've often seen short clips of it on 9gag and other social media and it seemed alright so I gave it a go.

Star is annoying, compulsive, uncaring (except for some selected people of her interest it seem. Then it's not even 'caring', it borderlines into 'obsession') and just idiotic in general.
There's a lot of partying and sexualisation which I find weird as well.

I think this person summarises why I hate the show so much pretty well http://beachcity.proboards.com/thread/275/star-forces-evil-plain-sucks

Sword art online review

I usually dont watch the full series of anime anymore. Sometimes I can bear it if it's only about 13 episodes long, but for anything longer and mainstream, I lose interest by the time I'm about a quarter way through or my anxiety kicks in and I want to avoid the whole series for some mysterious reason. So usually when I end up watching a whole series like SAO, it's usually because someone I know is forcing me to sit through it with them.
I probably don't have the rights to even review on the anime. During most of the series I was fixated on my phone or ds trying to deal with an unspoken anxiety and i don't remember the full series well.
It all began with a abridged series that was on youtube. I loved the abridged series. I love those types of parody humor and it just made fun of the whole scenario and my friend who also saw it decided it would also be great to watch the actual SAO series. I was interested what the fad was about for sometime as well so I obliged although I would've happily just not watched the series having watched the abridged.
About 1/3 of the first season was interesting (I gave up watching the second season btw). The scenario was interesting and I enjoyed watching different people's reaction to the situation and how they started handling it. When the girl suffered from hopelessness and depression, it was relatable. When groups formed up to get to the top as fast as they can to get out, it was also believable. The loss and guilt Kirito felt was also good.
But after that though... since Asuna got the second highlight, the series just lost something. Things like emotions and reactions started feeling forced and unnatural. Then suddenly we started to see more unrelateable crazy-ass characters, that felt so forced into this world to make it 'interesting'.
Like that group at the dungeon who had a leader that was pushing all his members just to carry on even though they're tired. The overly evil female character who doesn't mind killing other characters for some reason or those random characters who started being fine acting like a total npc in this world. It all just felt like a large joke than something to be taken seriously. This is why I enjoyed the abridged series. It showed that the whole scenario and character development was ridiculous. But to try and watch something that's that ridiculous is a serious manner was unenjoyable.
Then there was the ending of the first series. They destroyed the whole computer game, they got out and I wished that was the end of it. But alas. I guess the author was making a lot of money and needed to keep going. He made another universe. A universe more unrelateable, more forced to drag on the series a little longer. A universe where Kirito's sister falls in love with his brother for some poorly explained reasons. A series where Asuna is forced, yet into another game... um... then later on starts living in it basically? I mean, at some stage in the second season, she even says something along the lines of 'come back as soon as you can, since you belong in this world', like as if she's given up her life in the real world, which goes against all her character build up of how she wanted to get back... Anyway we're at a new game now with elf ears. For some reason Kirito's randomly strong again. The magical, digital 'daughter' Kirito and Asuna has, solves all the complicated problems the main characters face in the new digital world. By this time, I knew the conclusion and I knew it was shitty and I just wanted it to all end.
I won't even go into the second season of this ridiculous show and how much more it just covered itself full of shit to extend Kirito's gaming adventures by introducing guns this time, but really it was just hard to shallow.
In any case, I enjoyed the beginning of SAO and I enjoyed the forces romance between Kirito and Asuna since I am a girl of romance, but otherwise, I lost interest soon after the character development.
I'd probably give it a 6/10

Random classical CDs I used to own

I guess I just wanted some memento since these CDs weren't even mine they were my dads.
My dad was always a fan of being a bit of a sophist. He used to sit me my brother and my sister down to talk about philosophy, life, religion and other random things like how to meditate and listen to classical music. My mom also apparently used to listen to classical music when she was pregnant with me and my siblings. I was never really a fan of classical music, but I think that part of my dad did rub on me that I wish I was a sophist as well. When I saw the old stack of CDs I thought I should at least give it one last listen before throwing it out. I'll see if the library wants it before throwing them out.

Callas A Paris

I always get amazed at classical singer's voice. The loud booming volume with precise control of vibrato makes me admire the singer.
One thing is definite though. Her singing is not great to read to haha I've been trying to read this book whilst having this as a back ground, but her singing is pretty distracting.

Richard Wagner -  Ouverturen

To an untrained ears like mine, this album was just a 'typical classical music'. It was much better than the other CD to read to but that was about it.

W A Mozart - Seine Schönsten Konzerte

It's a bit embarrassing how the only classical music composers I know of are Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. I know there are a countless number of famous and brilliant composers, but I can only remember those 3 from childhood and even if I know their names if you gave me a song of any of theirs to listen to, I wouldn't have a clue who composed it unless it's a very famous piece of theirs.
Listening to this little album again tingles all my hoarder vibes. I kept it all these years and even though I've never listen to it in most of those years I kept this, I feel strangely connected to it and I want to keep it. It just reminds me of my dad and his music he used to listen to. Luckily it's the day and age of internet and I should learn to let go of things like this and keep everything digitally. Not to mention how there're tonnes of youtube videos featuring Mozart or any other classical music.
Just a note to my future self, I think my favourite music out of all is Andantino

Wind Isotonic Sound

Great meditation music. So relaxing. I can't really explain it much else than that. It's strange because I find these type of music more relaxing than any classical music. It probably would've been better if it was played with a piano rather than... whatever it uses? I think it uses a harp as its main background, but I wouldn't have a clue.

I have loads more CD but I think I might have to do a part 2 haha

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya review

Well... I didn't like it. Haha, I'll start off with that. (by the way, there're spoilers)
I usually like Studio Ghibli's animations. Mostly Miyazaki Hayao's work, but I like other ones made by them as well. When I saw the trailer, I had very high hopes for this animation. It looked like it had a very nice feel to it with a very distinct fairy tale theme which I like. I guess my problem was that I haven't heard of princess Kaguya before so I didn't know what to expect and when it actually hit me, it was a bit of an unsatisfying shock.
I know I didn't like it, but overall, it's a very good piece of film. It displays the various emotions princess Kaguya goes through vividly with their animation and I resonated with princess Kaguya's emotional conflict, feeling trapped, unresolved desires, joys, sadness, anger and many more emotional journey she went through. I very much enjoyed the first half of the film where it was mainly focused on the growth and development of the princess.
What I didn't like was how the movie ended. This wasn't necessarily a happy ending sort of movie. Most movies have a very general theme like, 'we endure sadness for the happy times' or 'keep working through issues and one day you'll get through them.' type of happy morals. This movie felt like it was more saying 'after happiness comes sadness' even though the songs and the speeches indicated that our lives goes round in circles, the ending was filled with unresolved problems and sadness. Kaguya never really found true happiness, always felt like a fake, she felt trapped in her own emotional conflict of wanting freedom vs making her parents happy or finding happiness the traditional way and after all that, she just left earth never even knowing what love between lovers feels like.
I think I didn't like it particularly more at this moment in life because I've recently gotten out of a relationship that wasn't very healthy for me. The man I was with had no job for more than a year whilst we were dating, stayed at home smoked weed all day and just played games. I felt more and more trapped being in the relationship having given up things I used to enjoy like dining out, going to the movies or just going out in general. In a way, a bit arrogantly I felt like I resonated with Kaguya's feelings. Her desires of freedom vs her desires to satisfy others was sad. Still being uncertain of my own choices to break up and move out I didn't like how the movie just ended with a "Hey, I have to go back to the moon now! Cya" type thing.
All and all, when my emotional issues have resolved, I probably would've enjoyed the movie and the movie itself is great, but right now, I'd probably give it something like a 6/10 haha

Over the garden wall review

Plot
"The central story involves Wirt (Elijah Wood) and Gregory (Collin Dean), two half-brothers who find themselves lost in a strange, magical forest called The Unknown."

Another mysterious setting with a nice magical adventure. I really enjoyed this short series.
It reminded me of the time I used to read a lot of fairy tales.

You know what? I'm horrible at explaining things. haha this wasn't really a 'review' I guess.
